The GLOBALMEDIC Medical Center offers its patients both diagnosis and treatment of allergies. Diagnosis is in fact the first, but extremely important stage of treatment. In addition to traditional diagnostic methods (skin tests, blood tests), we also use methods based on IgE-dependent detection.
One of the tools we use is the ALEX2 test – molecular diagnostics of allergies, allowing for simultaneous testing of 295 allergens. This advanced form of diagnostics is particularly useful in the case of inhalant allergy, where it is important to accurately determine the body’s reaction to individual allergens and their molecular components. Thanks to this, the patient’s condition can be precisely assessed and appropriate countermeasures can be taken.
Molecular diagnostics is also important in the selection of the appropriate desensitizing vaccine. It gives us a wider field of view and provides more information than traditional diagnostics based only on allergen extracts.
Precise diagnosis allows to determine the right treatment path.
It is precisely detailed and precise diagnostics that allows for the composition of an individualized and personalized vaccine for a given patient.
When diagnosing and treating allergies, we use the products of the Spanish company INMUNOTEK and the German company BIOCHECK.
Asthma is a chronic disease of the airways that is characterized by inflammation and constriction of the bronchial tubes, leading to attacks of shortness of breath, coughing and wheezing. This disease is caused by the overreactivity of the bronchi to various irritants, such as air allergens, pollution, pollen, dust, animal hair or chemicals.
Symptoms of bronchial asthma can vary depending on the severity of the disease, but the most common are:
Breathlessness attacks
Cough
Wheezing
Severe asthma attacks
Allergic rhinitis, also called allergic rhinitis or rhinitis, is a chronic inflammatory reaction of the nasal mucosa to air allergens. It is one of the most common allergic conditions that affects millions of people around the world.
Symptoms of allergic rhinitis may include:
Sneezing
Watery nasal discharge
Stuffed nose
Nose itching
Itching and watery eyes
Fatigue and deterioration of sleep quality
Allergic conjunctivitis, also known as allergic conjunctivitis, is an inflammation of the conjunctival mucosa that is caused by an allergic reaction to various allergens. The conjunctiva is a thin, transparent membrane that covers the front of the eyeball and the inner surface of the eyelids.
Symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis may include:
Itchy eyes
Tearing
Reddening
Burning and burning sensation
Swelling of the eyelids
Watery discharge from the eyes
A food allergy is a hypersensitivity reaction of the immune system to specific ingredients or proteins contained in the food we eat. The body treats these substances as harmful, which leads to allergic symptoms.
Food allergy symptoms can vary and include:
Skin symptoms: Hives, itching, redness of the skin, rashes, swelling of the lips, face or limbs
Respiratory symptoms Sneezing, shortness of breath, coughing, nasal congestion.
Hives are a sudden onset of itchy, red blisters or patches on the skin that are usually the result of an allergic reaction to substances such as medications, foods, pollen, or insect bites. Symptoms of urticaria may be transient or persist for a long time.
Angioedema (also known as Quincke’s edema) is a sudden, severe swelling of the skin, subcutaneous tissues, mucous membranes, or internal organs. This swelling is the result of an allergic reaction to allergenic substances and can be potentially dangerous, especially when it affects the respiratory tract.
Atopic dermatitis (AD), also known as atopic eczema, is a chronic allergic skin disease. This is a condition that often occurs in people with a genetic predisposition or a family history of allergies. AD is characterized by dry, itchy skin and the presence of characteristic skin lesions.
The symptoms of atopic dermatitis can vary, but most commonly include:
Dry skin
Itching
Blemishes
Skin infection
COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) is a chronic, progressive lung disease characterized by airflow limitation. It is a disease mainly associated with smoking, although other factors, such as exposure to air pollution or genetic predisposition, may also contribute to its development.
With COPD, the airways and alveoli in the lungs are permanently damaged, leading to difficulty breathing. The main symptoms of COPD are:
Chronic cough
Shortness of breath, especially on exertion
Excessive secretion of mucus from the respiratory tract
Cramps and tightness in the chest
Fatigue and lack of energy
Allergic sinusitis, also known as allergic sinusitis, is an inflammation of the lining of the sinuses that is caused by an allergic reaction to allergens in the environment. Sinuses are empty spaces in the bones of the face that are lined with mucous membranes. The main groups of sinuses are the frontal, maxillary, ethmoid and sphenoid sinuses.
Symptoms of allergic sinusitis may include:
Nasal congestion
Pain or pressure in the face area
Yellow or green nasal discharge
Headache, especially around the forehead or temples
Cough
Allergy to the venom of insects such as bees, wasps, stingrays and fire ants is a fairly common condition. An allergic reaction occurs when the immune system overreacts to the components of the insect venom, especially to the proteins in the venom.
Insect venom allergy symptoms can vary and include:
Swelling and redness at the site of the bite.
Severe pain at the bite site.
Itching or skin rash.
Swelling of distal parts of the body (e.g. face, lips, tongue, hands or feet).
Difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, wheezing.
Dizziness, nausea, vomiting.
Decrease in blood pressure, fainting.
Generalized allergic reactions, also known as anaphylaxis, are serious and potentially life-threatening allergic reactions that occur after exposure to allergens. These reactions occur quickly after contact with the allergen and can involve many systems in the body.
Symptoms of generalized allergic reactions can vary and include:
Skin symptoms: itching, rash, skin redness, hives, swelling of the skin.
Respiratory symptoms: Respiratory symptoms: shortness of breath, bronchospasm, wheezing, coughing, feeling of suffocation.
Nervous system symptoms: dizziness, disorientation, loss of consciousness, loss of consciousness.
Urinary system symptoms: Urinary system symptoms: difficulty urinating, abdominal pain.
Contact eczema, also known as contact dermatitis, is a type of dermatitis that occurs due to direct skin contact with an allergen or irritant. This is one of the most common forms of skin reactions caused by contact allergens
The main symptoms of contact eczema include:
Itch
Erythema
Blisters and skin eruptions
Dryness and peeling
The cost of a diagnostic and consultation visit is PLN 150.
